Our family recently had the pleasure of being invited to the Sea Life Aquarium in Grapevine, to check out grand opening of The Turtle Rescue Center and the new digs for three rescued Kemp's Ridley Sea Turtles.
I always thought that Grapevine was too far of a distance to travel with my kiddos, but it was a pretty pleasant drive, only 30-40 minute drive from both Dallas and McKinney, TX!

These gorgeous turtles had each been injured in some way or another, and needed the help of the Sea Life Aquarium to be able to survive.
The tank they are housed in is specially created just for them, at a specific depth to minimize further injury, but still give them room to play and grow.
Low windows on the tank, allow the kids can take all the time they want watching and learning about these peaceful creatures. My daughter was intrigued and mesmerized (see above photo).
Staff at the Turtle Rescue Center treated the kids to yummy cookies with cute turtle frosting, and some little stuffed animal turtles to remind the kiddos of their experience meeting Squirt, Roxy and Flip!
The Turtle Rescue Center is definitely a new and exciting reason to schedule a visit with your family to the Sea Life Aquarium before school starts again!
After saying goodbye to Roxy and Squirt and Flip,
we checked out the Shark Tunnel. My peanut wasn't scared at all, and
was quite interested in the glass floor, waiting the bat rays and fish
swim right underneath her feet.
After wandering around taking in all the sites, we ended up at the Interactive Rockpool, where H. could touch sea stars, sea urchins and other little sea creatures.
This was her first visit to an aquarium, so she absolutely enjoyed the new experiences of touching the sea life there in the pools. From looking around, it looked like all the other little kiddos were having a blast as well!
